While I was studying a few years back I threw in Australian History as an elective.
One of the first things the lecturer said is that we students should consider ourselves “emerging historians”, regardless of whether we’re studying History as a Major, or – like me – are just checking out this one subject.
This still gets me thinking: If studying history makes someone a historian, can that same concept be applied to other avenues of study?
If I started studying science – for example – would that make me an emerging scientist?
It’s pretty powerful really. We can be anything.
